China acquires high-yield oil and gas wells in Beibu Gulf Basin
Recently, the Hai 3 inclined well located in the Beibu Gulf Basin successfully tested a high-yield industrial oil and gas flow, setting a new record for the highest daily oil and gas production in the sea area. This discovery not only provides strong support for increasing oil and gas reserves and production in the Beibu Gulf region, but also injects new impetus into China's energy security and economic development.
The Beibu Gulf Basin is one of the six oil-bearing basins along China's coast and is rich in oil and gas resources. The Hai 3 Inclined Well is located in the sea depression about 80 kilometers southwest of Weizhou Island in the Beibu Gulf. The operating depth reaches 4,600 meters, with a horizontal displacement of 1,300 meters and a bottom temperature of 150°C. It is the deepest and warmest well of Sinopec in the Weixi block. The exploration well with the highest pressure. The operators successively overcame difficulties such as large sections of ash-bearing strata that were difficult to drill and dense coal seams that were prone to collapse, and finally successfully drilled and obtained good oil and gas displays. The test produced 738 cubic meters of crude oil and 280,000 cubic meters of natural gas per day, with an oil and gas equivalent of 1,010 cubic meters.
China's offshore oil and gas resources are extremely rich. As an important area for long-term and substantial production increase, future exploration and development potential will continue to be released. According to statistics, China's annual offshore crude oil production has exceeded 62 million tons, accounting for more than 70% of the country's total increase in crude oil, showing a strong momentum of increasing production. With the continuous advancement of exploration technology, the development and utilization of offshore oil and gas resources will become more efficient. China's offshore oil and gas industry is expected to become an important pillar of energy security and provide solid energy guarantee for the country's economic and social development.
