China realizes unmanned platform to develop heavy oil

28-04-2024

On April 17, the main structure of China’s offshore unmanned platform Panyu 11-12 was completed and entered the system connection and debugging stage. CNOOC Shenzhen Branch introduced that the application of unmanned platforms to remotely develop offshore heavy oil fields will achieve new breakthroughs in typhoon production models, remote production resumption, complex crude oil processing and other aspects, and further enhance the standardization and intelligence of China's offshore oil and gas equipment design and construction. level.

The Panyu 11-12 platform is 150.8 meters high and weighs about 7,000 tons. It is composed of an upper module and a lower jacket with functions such as intelligent oil production, intelligent equipment operation and maintenance, and intelligent security. Compared with the traditional model, the application of unmanned platforms can reduce engineering investment by hundreds of millions of yuan, and save operation and maintenance costs by more than 10 million yuan every year.

The crude oil produced by the Panyu 11-12 platform includes heavy oil, which is a kind of oil with poor fluidity and a viscosity like asphalt, making it extremely difficult to extract. The platform has a total of 18 production wells, which are designed and built according to unmanned standards. Based on the "Typhoon Production Mode", it integrates a heavy oil processing system including intelligent equipment such as oil and gas separation, heating, and pressurized external transmission. Can be remotely operated on the central platform and onshore control center at the same time, and has the ability to remotely log wells, kill wells and resume production, further enriching the economic and efficient production technology system of China's unconventional oil and gas fields.

Li Zhenning, general manager of the CNOOC Panyu Oilfield Group Joint Development Project Team, said that the Panyu 11-12 platform is independently designed and built in China and is highly intelligent. The offshore unmanned oil and gas production platform has the characteristics of simple and reliable structure, low investment cost, low construction and offshore installation costs, and is widely used in the development of offshore marginal oil and gas fields.

Panyu Oilfield Group currently has 7 producing oil fields and 6 production facilities. In the 20 years since it was put into production, the Panyu Oilfield Group has produced a total of 52 million tons of crude oil, which can meet the annual energy needs of 150 million people and create a total industrial output value of more than 180 billion yuan.
