Different ASTM boiler tubes

11-09-2023

Different ASTM standard boiler tubes will differ in chemical composition, these differences are mainly reflected in the alloying elements they contain and their content, in order to adapt to different working environments and performance requirements. Here are some common ASTM standard boiler tube chemical compositions:

ASTM A106

ASTM A106 boiler tubes are mainly used for fluid transport under high temperature and pressure, especially for the manufacture of high-pressure boiler superheaters, reheaters, steam pipes and other key equipment. Its chemical composition mainly includes carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S) and other elements, and may contain other alloying elements to improve its properties. The specific content will be adjusted according to different grades (such as A, B, C), but usually A106 steel pipe is made of high-quality carbon structural steel, with high durable strength, high oxidation resistance and good organizational stability.

ASTM A192/ASME SA192

ASTM A192 and ASME SA192 high pressure boiler tubes are generally used for heating surface tubes, header, economizer, superheater, reheater, etc. of high pressure boilers (working pressure is generally not greater than 9.8Mpa and working temperature is between 450℃ and 650℃). Its chemical composition is mainly carbon steel, including carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S) and other elements, and the content needs to meet the standard requirements to ensure the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the steel pipe.

ASTM A213/ASME SA213

The ASTM A213/ASME SA213 standard applies to boiler tubes with average wall thickness for boilers and superheaters. Can be used for low and medium pressure boiler (working pressure is generally not more than 5.88Mpa, working temperature below 450℃) and high pressure boiler (working pressure is generally above 9.8Mpa, working temperature between 450℃ ~ 650℃) heating surface pipe, economizer, superheater, reheater, etc. Its chemical composition is complex and diverse, may contain chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo), nickel (Ni), vanadium (V) and other alloying elements to improve the boiler tube high temperature strength, oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance and other comprehensive properties.

ASTM A179

The chemical composition of ASTM A179 boiler tubes is strictly controlled to ensure excellent high temperature resistance and mechanical properties. Its main chemical composition includes elements such as carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S). Specifically, the carbon content is usually no more than 0.06%, the manganese content is 0.27% to 0.63%, and the phosphorus and sulfur content are limited to less than 0.035% respectively. This precise chemical composition control helps to guarantee its stability and corrosion resistance at high temperatures.

ASTM A210

The chemical composition of ASTM A210 boiler tubes varies depending on the specific grade (such as Class A, Class C, etc.), but in general it is mainly medium carbon steel. These boiler tubes contain the right amount of elements such as carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus and sulfur, and possibly other alloying elements such as chromium, molybdenum, etc., to improve their overall performance. The specific chemical composition shall be determined according to the standards and actual application requirements. Precise chemical composition control helps ensure stability at high temperatures and corrosion resistance.
