How to store seamless steel pipe to prevent rust?
The following methods can be taken to store seamless steel pipes to prevent rust and extend their service life:
1. Select a suitable storage environment
Dry ventilation: Ensure that the storage environment is dry and well-ventilated, and avoid humidity and high temperature environment, because humidity and high temperature will accelerate the corrosion of the steel pipe.
Clean and free of debris: The storage area should be clean and free of debris and harmful gases to reduce pollution and corrosion on the surface of the steel pipe.
2. Steel pipe surface treatment
Clean the surface: Before storage, thoroughly clean the surface of the steel pipe, remove dust, oil and other impurities, and keep the surface clean.
Anti-rust treatment: For seamless steel pipes, anti-rust oil or anti-rust agent can be applied after cleaning to increase its anti-rust ability.
3. Storage method
Upright or lying down storage: Select the appropriate storage method according to the length and shape of the steel pipe. Vertical storage is suitable for short steel pipes, which can save space but need to pay attention to support stability; Flat storage is suitable for long steel pipes, with good stability, but attention should be paid to avoid squeezing each other and deformation.
Use support and cushion height: When storing, the bottom of the steel pipe should use support and cushion height, so that it is kept at a certain distance from the ground to ensure ventilation and prevent moisture.
Reasonable stacking: stacking according to the variety and specifications, different varieties of materials should be stacked separately to prevent confusion and mutual corrosion. At the same time, pay attention to the number of layers and the stress on the pipe end to avoid local stress on the pipe end and damage to the anti-corrosion layer.
4. Use cover-ups
For higher prices or special steel pipes, opaque covers can be used for protection, and the covers should be strong and reliable and ensure ventilation to avoid the accumulation of water vapor on the surface leading to rust.
5. Regular inspection and maintenance
Check the stored steel pipe regularly to see if the anti-rust layer is complete and there are no signs of rust.
If rust is found, rust removal should be carried out in time and rust prevention agent should be re-applied.
For the steel pipe that has been rained or soiled, it should be cleaned by different methods according to its nature, and corresponding anti-rust measures should be taken.
6. Internal anti-corrosion treatment
For seamless steel pipes that need long-term storage or are used in special environments, internal anti-corrosion treatment can also be considered. Such as coating anticorrosive paint, film anticorrosion, tube epoxy coating or chemical impregnation and other methods to form an effective protective layer, reduce the contact between the steel pipe and the corrosive medium and extend its service life.
