If you have no idea about large-diameter seamless steel pipes, it will be difficult to buy good quality seamless steel pipes. So it’s important to know this before buying.
1. There should be no seams on the pipe body.
Seamless steel pipe must not have welds (some people will remove the welds in an undetectable way, so be careful with this). The manufacturing process of large-diameter seamless steel pipes must adopt specific processes. The raw material should be a solid round blank. The billet is then heated at extremely high temperatures, but care should be taken when heating as the billet may melt if the temperature rises to the melting point. The blank is heated and stretched and pulled until it takes the shape of a hollow tube. Since welded pipe is a regular pipe material, your contractor may recommend that you purchase welded pipe, but you must be very careful and choose large, seamless pipes.
2. Pay attention to roundness
Next is the uniformity of the seamless steel pipe shape. Because the welded seam pipe is wrapped around another shape before welding, and welding requires stress, heat, and other external variables to form the entire forming process, it is difficult to obtain a welded pipe with a completely round shape. Seamless steel pipe is a continuous extrusion of the alloy, which means you will get a circular cross-section, which is necessary when you are doing any construction process or installing pipes.
3. Large seamless steel pipes bear greater pressure than large welded pipes
Seamless steel pipes are stronger than welded pipes. You may find it quite expensive, but trust our inspection; it is more reliable even under pressure. Welded pipe has the potential to crack under pressure, but you can trust large diameter seamless steel pipe without question. An empty pipe always supports its own weight, but it also supports weight when the pipe is filled with material or loaded. Welded pipes are mostly subject to leaks and pipe failures. Seamless steel pipes have no seams, so there is no possibility of pipe failure.
4. Large diameter seamless steel pipe can work in harsh conditions
One of the biggest advantages of seamless large pipe is its ability to work in extremely cold or hot environments, whereas welded pipe is unlikely to work in extremely harsh conditions.
