17.69 million tonnes! Tarim Oilfield's oil and gas production in the first half of the year hit a record high.
As of June 30th, Tarim Oilfield had achieved a record-high oil and gas production equivalent of 17.69 million metric tonnes in the first half of the year, an increase of 510,000 metric tonnes compared to the same period last year.
During the first half of the year, Tarim Oilfield made significant progress in its new round of breakthrough strategic actions for exploration, establishing a favourable development pattern of increasing reserves, building production capacity, and achieving higher production. Targeted measures were taken to enhance oil and gas production capacity, including acidizing and fracturing low-yield wells, water injection for enhanced oil recovery, and well bore unblocking, resulting in an increase of 73,500 metric tonnes of crude oil and 224 million cubic metres of natural gas production. For long-idle and remote wells, efforts were made to resume production and tap into their production potential, resulting in an increased well opening rate of 6.8% and 2.3%, respectively, compared to the end of last year. This has established a high-quality, efficient, and sustainable development order. Pang Hao, the head of production planning at Tarim Oil Field's Production and Operation Department, stated that this year has witnessed the shortest time on record for surpassing the milestones of 5 million metric tonnes and 10 million metric tonnes of oil and gas production, with production capacity consistently operating at high levels.
Tarim Oilfield has been actively exploring and developing advanced technologies for oil and gas exploration, clean and efficient utilisation, and self-reliance in deep-field areas. This year, Tarim Oilfield successfully drilled the Guole 3C well, the deepest onshore oil and gas horizontal well in Asia, reaching a depth of 9,396 metres. The Bozi 1-2 well also broke the record for the deepest air drilling depth in China, with a drilling speed twice as fast as conventional drilling and penetrating through a thick conglomerate layer of over 5,000 metres. " In particular, on May 30th this year, the deep Tarim Science-1 well sounded the horn for venturing into depths of 10,000 metres." According to the head of the Basin Division Exploration Project Department at Tarim Oilfield's Exploration Division, the deep Tarim Science-1 well has safely reached a depth of 4,365 metres.
While focusing on energy conservation, emission reduction, carbon reduction, and expanding green initiatives, Tarim Oilfield is also actively promoting the construction of the "Shage Desert" new energy base. In the first half of the year, the 200,000-kilowatt photovoltaic project of Tarim Oilfield was successfully connected to the grid, 126 distributed photovoltaic power stations utilised solar energy for oil extraction, and the photovoltaic power station in Luonan Oilfield's low-carbon demonstration zone was successfully commissioned and connected to the grid, continuously enhancing the development and utilisation of clean energy. Tarim Oilfield has already generated over 30 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity this year, transforming the Taklamakan Desert, known as the "Sea of Death," into a "hotbed of green electricity."
